After a lot of postponements over last 5 Months, The Marathon ran in almost perfect conditions on Sunday. We arrived at midday to about 15m of hard beach and 16kmh NW. Forecast was for it to come up and by briefing at 1300 we had 25m of clean hard beach and 20kmh NW. 100km entrants started at 1315 followed by 50km entrants at 1345. By the time low tide came at 1500 we had about 50m of hard beach and wind from NW – WNW 21-27 kmh. Most were running 5.5m sails with speeds over 60kmh down the beach, with top speed recorded being closer to 70kmh! Not bad for a 5.5m
